BRICKFIELDS: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and the Prime Minister of India Dr Manmohan Singh came for the launch of the first phase to upgrade and beautify Brickfields into “Little India” on Oct 27. More than 5000 from different races people assembled in Little India before the launch to testify the historic moment.

Hindraf’s Hunger Strike

KUALA LUMPUR: A group of about 30 people gathered outside the main entrance of KLCC today on a peaceful protest by having hunger strike to commemorate the mega protest which took place on 25th November 2007 and at the same time to remind the government on Hindraf’s 18 points of demand. There were a few police officers on guard in case the protest goes away.

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia moved up a notch to the 25th position of the 139 countries in more complex categories of Business sophistication and Innovation in terms of Global Competitiveness Report 2011. 

The World Economic Forum ranked Malaysia above China, Italy, Spain and Portugal in terms of Business sophistication and Innovation that is important for advanced economies.

Dazzling closing ceremony of 2010 GuangZhou Asian Games with “Rain”

GUANGZHOU: It’s over. The sixteenth Asian Games, Guangzhou 2010 had officially ended on 27 November after 9704 athletes from 45 countries competed against each other for 2 weeks.

The closing ceremony kicked start with the theme song “Leave Your Song Here” at 8:06 pm local time with a total of 35000 spectaculars and ended at around 10 pm taking approximately 2 hours to end. China again offered another spectacular ceremony for the world to mark the end of the largest ever Asian Games in the history of Asia.

Walk to cancer awareness

Liver cancer, breast cancer and lung cancer are prevalent in ethnic groups. However, there is a silent killer which over 25 million Malaysian men and women might encounter.

With the cancer burden rising in Malaysia, Ministry of Health has planned Mouth Cancer Awareness Week 2010. OCRCC organized a mouth cancer awareness walkathon on 14th November at Bukit Jalil recreational park. The registration was free of change and the participants could collect the T-shirt which cost RM25 during the event day. The event started from 7.30a.m.until 11a.m. Participants were required to complete a 4 km distance in the walkathon.

Laptop is a very common and essential tool for us in our daily lives today. We often see people balance laptop on their lap and started doing their work by using it maybe for a long time period. However, they do not notice that the heat released from the laptop is slowly damaging their skin and bring harm to their health.
